About Sextant Métisse
Sextant Métisse is a natural single-variety Gamay red wine made by the Sextant winery under the Vin de France denomination in Burgundy, France.
To make Sextant Métisse, two thirds of the clusters are destemmed and macerated for ten days, a third of the grapes are pressed directly. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with native yeasts in fibre vats where the resulting wine ages for six months before being bottled.
Julien Altaber called this wine Métisse (half and half) because the first vintage was a mixture of red and white grapes, and it is worth saying that it was a successful start. The composition can vary each vintage and sometimes they add a minimum percentage of some of the white varieties that Julien cultivates, like Chardonnay or Aligoté, and other vintages are made exclusively with the Gamay red variety.
The Sextant winery is the personal project of young vigneron Julien Altaber, where he shows his commitment to producing natural wines according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. His wines are a frank and honest reflection of the terroir and the varieties he cultivates.

| 2018 | Sextant Métisse 2018 is a fruity and juicy red wine with cherry and strawberry notes accompanied by aromas of undergrowth and mushrooms. On the palate it is light and fresh, reaffirming the presence of red fruits, with a bright and delicious mid-palate. It may be slightly carbonic. | |
