About Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon

In the late 1980s, four partners envisioned showcasing the immense potential of Chile's wines to the world. They were Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre, and Pedro Grand. Together, they astonished the globe with Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon. 
 
Today, three decades after its debut, Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon continues to be a spectacular offering. Approaching the pinnacle of iconic wines, this single-varietal red made from Cabernet Sauvignon has become a true emblem of Chilean premium wines. The Colchagua Valley, located in central Chile, is one of the regions boasting the country's finest vineyards. It is here that Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon originates. Nestled between the Coastal Range and the Pacific Ocean, the winery's vineyards provide the perfect environment for red varieties to mature properly. This is primarily due to the contrast between different air masses. Indeed, anthocyanins (the polyphenols responsible for the colour in grape skins) are deposited effectively during the cooler night temperatures, while they mature perfectly in the warmth of the day.
 
Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon is harvested by hand, and the clusters are swiftly transported to the winery. Following a meticulous selection and gentle crushing, Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon ferments and ages for 12 months in French oak barrels. 
 
Balance, character, and authenticity. Each bottle of Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon pays tribute to the Colchagua Valley. Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre, and Pedro Grand were not mistaken in the least.
